Wainani at Poipu: A Tranquil, Tropical South Shore Community

Within Kauai’s Kiahuna Plantation, just past the head of Hapa Trail, is the exclusive residential community of Wainani at Poipu. In Hawaiian, Wainani translates to “beautiful water,” and perfectly describes the clear blue waves of the nearby, world-class beaches.

Wainani can be reached by driving up Kiahuna Plantation Drive, a road lined with palm trees. This is just the beginning of the wow-factor of Wainani at Poipu! Properties here boast panoramic views along green fairways, all in a tranquil, tropical community. Of the nearly 70 homes and sites here, only one does not offer golf course frontage.

Culture, Nature, and Adventure

Wainani at Poipu is close to the best of the South Shore, including the upscale boutiques and award-winning restaurants at Poipu Shopping Village and the Shops at Kukui’ula. Conveniently located on the fairways of Kiahuna Plantation Golf Course, Wainani is also less than three miles from Poipu Bay Golf Course.

Wainani residents enjoy access to Hapa Trail, an ancient Hawaiian walking trail that you can take into Koloa Town, two miles inland, or down to the beach. A historical and cultural path, the Hapa Trail once connected the people of Kōloa and Weliweli, who used it to get down to Poipu.

The luxury homes at Wainani are minutes away from Poipu Beach, Brennecke’s, and other beaches that are a dream come true for anyone who bodyboards, swims, or snorkels. And for more adventure, ziplining and horseback riding are just a short drive away.

Vacation Rental Potential

One of the South Shore’s newer subdivisions, Wainani at Poipu features lots that are around 8,000 square feet, providing for the experience of a tight-knit neighborhood. There are 69 homes and homesites here, and about ⅓ of the lots have yet to be built out.

The underground gas/ propane that is available for all home sites makes the subdivision unique, as does the reclaimed water for landscaping, which is included in association dues. Wainani is also found within the Vacation Destination Area (VDA), enabling owners to vacation rent their home for short- or long-term stays. And the potential for additional income makes Wainani at Poipu an appealing location for building a home.

Lots are rarely available in this quiet, secluded community. Occasionally, a Wainani property does hit the market, attracting buyers who prioritize affordability over being in the middle of all of Poipu’s activities and attractions. For the price point, buyers know they will get more for their money and still be in biking or driving distance to Poipu.

Considering how infrequently owners sell their Wainani property, sellers have an outstanding chance of securing higher prices, with less competition from other sellers, strong demand from buyers, and fast sales.

With convenient access to all that Kauai’s sunny South Shore has to offer, the exclusive residential neighborhood of Wainani at Poipu is a hidden gem in the Kiahuna Golf Club communities.

We are thinking about buying another home in Hawaii if we can find something we can afford. Will look for at least two bedroom.
