Maui Strong: Help Maui Recover from the Fires – Please Donate Now! Hawaii Life Will Match Your Donation!
The fires in Lahaina Town and across Maui have caused devastating damage, destroying homes and lives. We must unite as a community to support Maui. The Hawai’i Community Foundation, in partnership with Hawai’i Life, has initiated the “Maui Strong” fund. This fund aims to support first responders and provide long-term relief to those impacted. Thanks to generous donations, we have already reached our initial target of matching $50,000. Recognizing the escalating need, we are now doubling our matching commitment. Now is a critical time to act.

The Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund was created to answer a need for flexible, responsive and innovative giving opportunities for our agents, brokers, employees and clients. We work together with The Hawaii Community Foundation, one of the Nation’s most trusted and effective non-profit organizations. Thank you for providing your support to our community through this fund.
The Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund is a donor-advised fund at the Hawai‘i Community Foundation and is supported primarily through agent, broker and client donations, though anyone can donate to the HLCF.
Our mission is to work to preserve Hawai‘i’s beauty and culture by supporting its people. We support local charities and causes throughout the state that are aligned with our mission, primarily through grant funding.
Anyone can donate to the HLCF, but Hawai‘i Life agents, brokers and clients are able to direct donations to the fund when completing a real estate transaction—at the close of escrow. Agent donations are matched by the company. Our vision is to have 100% participation in our giving program so that every agent and client chooses to donate to the HLCF each year.
Each year, Hawai‘i Life agents and brokers collectively choose an annual giving focus for the Hawai‘i Love grant program. The HLCF Board of Directors makes grants available to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations across the state whose programs align with both our mission and our giving focus for that year. In 2023, our giving focus is, Caring for our Keiki, elevating Hawaii’s children and at-risk youth with improved early development, education, and health care for their brighter futures. Learn More…
Our 100% Club initiative is a commitment by participating Hawai‘i Life agents to donate to the Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund (HLCF), with a goal of reaching 100% participation. We know that with the support of every agent and every client — we can make a meaningful, lasting difference in our communities. Learn More…
Through the fundraising efforts of the HLCF Board of Directors and the generous contributions of Hawai‘i Life agents and clients, the HLCF has donated more than $250,000 to Hawai‘i-based 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits serving the Hawaiian Islands. Funds raised supported the acute needs of Hawai‘i residents facing extraordinary natural disasters, as well the ongoing needs of many Hawai‘i charities.
The HLCF People’s Choice Award has been renamed to honor the HLCF’s first Board Chair, Mealoha Kraus, a Hawai‘i Life broker who lost her battle with breast cancer in late 2019. The Mealoha Kraus People’s Choice Award allows the Hawai‘i public to choose an additional grant recipient each year from the eligible Hawai‘i Love Grant applicants who were not initially selected by the HLCF’s volunteer Board of Directors.
The Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund has partnered with Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate (MKEC) in an innovative online fundraising campaign called Chocolate Laulima.
By purchasing individually wrapped pieces of MKEC chocolate (in either 25-piece or 50-piece gifts bags), you’ll be supporting a local Maui business while also donating to the Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund.
Our volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of Hawai‘i Life agents, brokers and employees from across the state. They generously contribute their time and energy to help fundraise and communicate the mission and vision of the HLCF to their community.
