Wear the Love, Share the Love Fundraiser – Help Keep Maui Strong With Hawai‘i Life

In response to the widespread destruction caused by the fires across Maui, Hawai‘i Life has taken proactive measures to aid in the island’s recovery. Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund (HLCF) is introducing the Wear the Love, Share the Love campaign, offering a vibrant collection of wearable merch, including T-shirts, hoodies, and hats. Each piece features a meaningful design inspired by the Banyan, Hibiscus, and Wave—symbolizing Maui’s unity and enduring spirit.

Beyond being a fundraiser, the Wear the Love, Share the Love initiative serves as a means of bringing together a community of supporters in a collective celebration of love and backing for Maui. 100% of the net proceeds contribute directly to the Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s (HCF) Maui Strong Fund, dedicated to long-term relief and reconstruction efforts for those impacted. Hawai‘i Life has already surpassed its initial fundraising target. So far in total, we raised over $1,468,834 for the Maui Strong Fund. This includes more than $418,834 for the HLCF, a separate donation of $1,000,000 to the HCF for our efforts, and an additional $50,000 in matching gifts also given to the HCF. By supporting Maui Strong, individuals not only provide financial aid but also become integral to a larger movement, proudly sharing their vision of a revitalized and flourishing Maui. 

The Hawai‘i Community Foundation (HCF) plays a pivotal role in bolstering philanthropy across the Hawaiian Islands. As a trusted ally and manager of the HLCF, and the leader of the Maui Strong campaign, HCF zeroes in on critical needs and promotes enduring resilience in Hawai‘i’s communities. HCF is working in close collaboration with state and county leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to get an understanding of the quickly evolving priorities. As of December 8, 2023, $166,052,190 has been donated to the Maui Strong Fund through HCF.

We asked Linda Hussey, Vice-Chair of Hawai‘i Life Charitable Fund, to share her thoughts on the Wear the Love, Share the Love fundraiser for Maui Strong and HLCF’s mission,

“Pride radiates through wearable support, echoing the heartbeat of a community united in promoting and uplifting Maui through the power of compassion and solidarity. HLCF is proud to have linked arms with the Hawai’i Community Foundation to promote their Mau’i Strong initiative. The definition of aloha to me is an essence of being; love, peace, compassion, and a mutual understanding of respect. By giving back and supporting others, we show aloha.”

Linda tells us how HLCF is always looking toward ways they can support the local communities in Hawaii,
