Waimea Parkside – Hidden Treasure in Kamuela
Located in this quaint little town of Kamuela where the fifth largest independently owned ranch in the U.S. is located. “The Parker Ranch” was founded in 1847 by John Palmer Parker I, an enterprising ship clerk who jumped ship in Kealakekua, Hawai’i Island in 1809. At the time foreigners living in the Hawaiian Kingdom was unheard of and John being of white ancestry, did not blend in very well with the tanned skinned Hawaiian people. With time he won over one of the Chiefs that oversaw the fish ponds in Kealakekua with his hard working ethics. The King heard of this foreigner and requested he meet this young man that had impressed his Chief. The King was very impressed with young John, as to how he embraced the Hawaiian culture and language. Even today, part of living on the Island of Hawai’i you must learn, respect and embrace the Hawaiian culture that is so dear to its people.
Kamuela, Hawai’i is a highly desired area, once the hidden treasure is found. It’s a small town that has a lot of its own rich history to include generations of ranching families.
I would like to invite you to come and visit this hidden treasure on the Big Island.
