Kauai Motocross Racing at the Wailua Motocross Track

Check out the motocross action every Saturday, Sunday, and most holidays at the Wailua Motocross track here on the island of Kauai when the guys, girls, and kids are out on the track practicing for an upcoming race, or just riding for fun.

There are two tracks:

  • One full size track
  • One smaller track for the kids and minibikes

If you are like me, there’s nothing better then the sweet sound of the bikes and the smell of freshly tore up dirt…

Official race once a month on Sunday

I was about 7 years old the first time I rode a motorcycle. What a thrill. 70cc’s of pure joy. I have spent more time as an adult thinking about riding than actually riding, but I still enjoy just being around motorcycles. I do get a chance once in a while to ride my CRF450 at the track. The other riders flying overhead as I roll over the doubles. No, I don’t hit the doubles anymore…Still fun to be out there though.

How to Get to the Wailua Motocross Track

The track is just south of the Wailua Golf Course (airport side of golf course) on Kuhio Hwy (56). It’s an unmarked dirt road on the makai (Ocean) side of the highway that runs along the southern most part of the Wailua Golf Course.

Entrance Motocross

Unmarked entrance to the race track in Wailua, Kauai…Motocross Race sign only comes out when there is a race

  • When heading South toward Lihue, the track entrance will be on the left hand side of the road
  • When heading North toward Kapaa, the track entrance will be on the right hand side of the road

Once on the dirt road, it bends to the right, then straight, then to the left and the track will be on your right. Roll down your windows and listen! You’ll hear them. Free to watch. A few grandstand style seats available. They can be dirty. Bring a towel to sit on if you are wearing your “good clothes.”

Hi Randy~
Our family will agree- We have amazing memories at the Wailua Race Track. We raised our kids there for a few years every weekend never missed. Even camped out many times. Great fun for everyone with the beach right there too. The Labor Day Races are the best.!
Thank you for sharing….
Aloha`

Greetings,

I’m from San Diego and will be in Kaui next week. I ride all the local tracks here, but are there any decent (or any) MX bike rentals in Kaui that you can recommend? Ideally, I’d like to ride any of the tracks that may exist.

Best Regards,

Rich
