Waikoloa Village For Sale By Owner (FSBO) Properties – Hawaii Life Real Estate Representation

I received a call from potential buyers interested in properties for sale in Waikoloa Village. At the time they placed their call, they were sitting in their car in front of a specific property and wanted to get additional information. They sounded pretty excited about it and started to describe it to me: “This house is very private with unobstructed ocean and sunset views, nice fruit trees in the front…it sounds like a nice house, we would like to see it.”

Based on their description, there are 48 homes for sale in Waikoloa Village. I’m sure one of them, through buyer’s eyes, could be considered as a nice house! So, I needed a little more information to find “the one.” I asked for a property address, or if there was a sign on the property with a phone number and an agent’s name. They replied to me that there was a sign, but with no real estate agency’s name, just a last name, Fizzbow, and a cell phone number.

I realized right away that these people were inquiring about a FSBO (For Sale By Owner), but they did not seem familiar with this process. I explained to them that a FSBO was the process of selling real estate without the representation of a real estate broker, or real estate agent. Since I always keep myself up-to-date with the Waikoloa Village inventory, I knew the house and I made an appointment right away.

We finally went to look at it. They were right, the house had stunning unobstructed ocean and sunset views! They were fond of the completely remodeled modern kitchen, the granite counter tops, the nice appliances, the etched glass with cherry wood cabinets, etc.

While we were there, even if the homeowner decided to sell his home without a real estate agent, he made it very clear that he was willing to pay a generous commission to any cooperative broker. Commission or no commission, my job was to show them the house they wanted to see. That’s part of what I do for buyers, even if it means calling Mr. Fizzbow.

Love the story! Prospective buyers sometimes ask me if they can get a better deal negotiating directly with the owner. In my experience, one of the main reasons sellers decided to do it themselves is they don’t like the market value estimates they’re getting from Realtors and are just sure they can get more for their “unique” property on their own…

Great story Catherine, I know that buyers…and sellers can always count on you to do the “right thing.” You always put your clients needs first, and that makes you a first rate realtor!
