What’s Up Waikoloa? It’s Halloween Time!

Ever since I was a little girl,  Halloween has always been my favorite day of the year. I’m not sure if it is because my Mom was born and raised in Salem, Massachusetts and I spent a lot of time there, or that fact that Halloween signified that the Fall season was on its way. Whatever the reason, Halloween meant that there was an opportunity to have fun and I was all in.

Being raised on the East Coast had its challenges when it came to Halloween costumes. I recently saw a post on social media titled, “You Know You Are From Maine If…” One of the funniest but by all means true lines was, “you design your Halloween costume to fit over your snowsuit.” Although this sounds funny, its true.

When we moved here to Waikoloa, I was a little apprehensive about what to expect for Halloween and all of the fun that goes along with it. I will say this, Waikoloa did not disappoint. We have neighbors that go all out with crazy lawn ornaments, block parties, and fun costumes. We even have neighbors that turn their yards into haunted houses.

I recently discovered that the King’s Shops in Waikoloa hosts a full evening of Halloween festivities also. Everything from costume contests, a magic show, and trick or treating will be happening on Halloween. If trick or treating door to door is not your idea of a good time, maybe grab the kids and head to the Kings Shops. Either way, it’s going to be a great time.
