The Stice Team is proud to share our newest listing on Maui’s pristine North Shore located at 450 North Holokai Place in my hometown of Haiku. 450 North Holokai is a 4 bed/3.5 bath flawless home of 3,765 sq.ft. on an immaculate two acres with an outstanding ocean view. This property represents strong value at $1,850,000 and has a Hawaii Life Value Score of 95 out of a possible 100 points (MLS# 356689).

Maui’s North Shore Rocks

Many are aware that Maui has consistently been rated as the world’s top island, but the North Shore presents an exceptionally beautiful contrast to the more developed resort areas present on the south and west shores.

Usually when people think about Maui’s north shore they think of the road to Hana, lots of flowers and tropical plants, and the exotic and pleasant odors of plants and flowers. They think of big waves at Jaws and Hookipa Beach Park, Kanaha Beach Park for windsurfing, and the exciting day and nightlife of Paia and Haiku Town Center.

Most visitors don’t immediately think about Haiku as a place to reside, they think about it as a place to visit. I have lived in Haiku since 1978 and have a very different perspective. As I know Maui quite well, it brings a smile to my face thinking of the many great spots we have to visit and enjoy.

What makes Haiku especially nice to live in is the cool tradewinds laced with daily rain showers and clean air blowing in over 3,000 miles of clear Pacific. Because of the regular rain, just about everything grows, even cactus if you let it.

The Value of 450 North Holokai Place

Why would you consider 450 Holokai Rd as an option? If you wanted a true quality home of this size and construction standards on 2 acres, the price would be more than $4,000,000 in West Maui or Wailea. Consider a brief look at the feature list and you will begin to agree. See a complete list of the house features by room.

Living room

Living room or dining room-whatever you best see fit

This is one of my favorite rooms in the house and, as you can see, is a versatile space that accentuates the beautiful natural light and brings the lush surroundings of the yard into the home through the large and high quality Milgard windows (which have a 10 year transferable warranty). Each room is very spacious with high open beam ceilings giving the entire house an open, yet very intimate floor plan.

Master Bedroom

There are outstanding ocean and Haleakala views from the master bedroom of 450 North Holokai Place

Present in the master suite are Tamarind (Brazilian rosewood) floors, built-in dresser and matching nightstands and solid Maple window sills and bed frame. There are split “his and hers” master bath including a Toto toilet, Kohler spa with view, green marble counter tops, walk-in shower tiled to ceiling, and built-in shelves and bench.

Downstairs Suite

The downstairs suite presents a nice contrast to the upstairs master with warm natural light and soothing views of the fruit orchards

In 2004, the owners had well known Hawaiian architect Fred Loesberg design an addition for them consisting of a beautiful second master suite complete with a bathroom. This is a great location for guests or extended family members to enjoy this home and property yet have their own sense of space and privacy. Although this room is unique in its own respect, one of the things I most enjoy about this home is the level of consistency and quality throughout its entirety.

Quality Design and Craftsmanship and Built to Last

Since this was a custom home designed for retirement, the owners took very special care to make sure the entire property is very easy to maintain. All of the bedrooms are well separated so you don’t get noise transference between them.

Holokai Exterior

Extremely well built home with a monier tile roof, double pan Milgard windows, solar hot water heating and an exceptionally thick stucco exterior siding

The home is oriented at the high point on the lot and allows a great area for a pool if you choose to add one. There is room as well for a tennis court, greenhouse, or other farm related structures as zoning allows.

Library

Especially peaceful is the upstairs library-reading room; it opens to grand views of the Pacific and gardens outside with a bright and well ventilated feel that makes you just want to relax and enjoy a good book

What’s Growing on the Property?

In addition to large grassy lawns, there is a wonderful variety of fruit trees that thrive in their natural setting and don’t require any watering. Enjoy these seasonal fruits throughout the course of the year. These include:

  • Lilikoi (Hawaiian passion fruit)
  • Meyer lemons
  • Lychee
  • Tangerines
  • Keffir lime
  • Avocados
  • Pink grapefruit
  • Starfruit
  • Fig
  • Dwarf apple bananas
  • Loquat
  • Samoan coconut (much shorter than other varieties making them easy to harvest and care for)
  • Mango
  • Oranges (navel and temple)
  • Coffee

There are also three different gardens that contain herbs and a variety of flowers including roses and oleander bushes. To farm two acres in Kihei, your water bill would be  $600 or $700 per month. They pay $30 per month because they don’t have to irrigate.

Perfect Way to End the Day on Maui

For the end of the day or after your workout at Upcountry Fitness, you have the choice of the outside courtyard spa and zen garden or the upstairs Kohler Spa tub. In any case, you will get a good soak and either be ready to doze off or have a drink.

Spa and Garden

From the kitchen out through the sliding glass doors lies the spa and zen garden designed by Hunton Contrad

This property shows absolute pride of ownership and can be shown on relatively short notice. Please reach out to me for your private showing today.
