Think Pink – Breast Cancer Awareness

Drink for Pink

What could possibly be better than wearing pink? Drinking it! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so put on your pink and head down to the Fairmont Orchid Resort at Mauna Lani Resort. Through October 31st, they will be serving pink cocktails to support Breast Cancer Awareness. For every delicious, pink drink sold, $1 will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the fight against Breast Cancer. How often do you get the opportunity to go to happy hour for a good cause!?

One of the cocktails featured is the Hibiscus Mule, which is a floral take on the classic Mauna Lani Mule. The Hibiscus Mule uses fresh hibiscus flowers grown right on the 32-acre beachfront property along with vodka shaken with pureed ginger and fresh lime juice. Drink directly on the beach for best results.

If you’re feeling energized by your pink drinks, check out the 1st annual Pink Out Color Fun Run/Walk and Beautiful Bra Contest on October 13th in Hilo. It is the only 5k on the island that is guaranteed to leave you pink from head to toe! Registration begins at 7:30am followed by the “Beautiful Bra” contest at 8am. Contestants can decorate bras for the occasion and wear them over their running attire during the race! Early registration is $30 and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. After the race, make sure you reward yourself with some more cocktails at the Fairmont Orchid Resort.

Whether you prefer to sip to show your support, or running towards a cure, there are plenty of activities on the Big Island to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
