Talk Story #55 – Growth Trend is Up for Ala Moana and Kaka’ako Areas

Huge cranes and new construction in Ala Moana and Kaka'ako areas

No doubt about it, development is upper most in the “what’s happening” mode for this area between Honolulu and Waikiki. Plans are speeding ahead with the announced tear down of the older Sears Building and a new “wing” at the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center; the avid response to the offering of luxurious ONE Ala Moana condominium, which will be built over the parking lot adjacent to Nordstrom department store; the exciting on-going redevelopment in the Ward Centers on Ala Moana Blvd.

New Additions to the Redevelopment of the Kaka’ako Area

Of course, it is not just high rise condominiums going up and up, but the future elevated rail line system is a pivotal part of the redevelopment of the whole area. The Ala Moana station will be a primary consideration…although at this time, the Federal Government has not approved this final phase of the rail construction, it will be one step at a time. Expectation is high for this particular section along the coast with its nearby family parks and boat harbors all within walking distance!

How Do the New Kaka’ako Changes Affect Oahu Real Estate Buyers?

What does this mean for anyone choosing a property now, or considering one in the next year or so? Oahu is a smaller island in the chain here in Hawaii and this capitol city isle has a high population.

Demand for a certain way of living, perhaps not just for beach and recreation, but the strong desire to have other amenities, and an easy access to work. Location, location, location. Yes, that word is heard all the time when discussing a real estate purchase, but it is so true!

The world is changing rapidly, why not live life to the fullest?! Now is the time to set in motion your lifestyle desires. Whether it be downsizing from your current residence for the ease of condominium living, or moving to Hawaii in retirement. Whether you still want a city environment, or you’re wanting an investment, I would not delay.
