Spotlight on Yvonne Ahearn – An Attorney Turned Creative Designer & Realtor in Kailua

An Oahu resident since 2004, Yvonne Ahearn has been a licensed realtor for the past 13 years and has closed more than 100 successful transactions for her happy clients. Born in New Mexico, Yvonne was raised in Tempe and graduated from the University in Arizona in Tucson with a law degree in 1990. She then moved to San Francisco, and later, Portland, before arriving in Hawaii in 2004. For more than 30 years, she has been a licensed attorney. 

Before joining forces with the team at Hawaii Life, Yvonne was Principal Broker at her own boutique real estate firm in her community of Kailua, on Oahu’s Windward coast, where she enjoys cooking, painting, gardening, swimming and hanging out at home with her family.

She also loves a good night of karaoke and doing anything crafty. “I love to create,” says Yvonne, who has been caring for her community by giving away beautifully hand-sewn masks in recent weeks. She also supplied a detailed guide to Kailua’s eateries that are offering takeout and delivery services during stay-at-home orders, in an effort to help them stay afloat during these challenging times.

Her creative bent led her to home staging for her clients, transforming their homes and preparing them to hit the market. Inspired by architecture and design, she also enjoys hunting for the perfect home for her clients. “Finding someone a great property is like solving a mystery,” says Yvonne, who especially loves the excitement of finding a home for a first-time homebuyer and getting a great deal for a client.

While she doesn’t provide legal counsel to her real estate clients, her long experience as an attorney makes her extremely adept at negotiating terms and preparing contracts. Though she’s been an award-winning agent since 2007, she’ll tell you that she’s not a real estate agent, but instead, she considers herself a consultant. “I help people achieve their long-term financial and lifestyle goals.” 

Yvonne has been recognized three times by the Honolulu Board of Realtors as the Aloha ‘Aina People’s Choice Award winner in 2010, 2011 and 2015. It’s a highly-competitive, panel-based selection based on client nominations for customer service and ethics. She has also been recognized by Honolulu Magazine as one of the Best in Real Estate since 2013 and been featured on HGTV House Hunters.

Working in partnership with Ana Kuna for the past decade, Yvonne has been a mentor and leader in her field, brokering transactions for her firm’s group of agents before it was acquired by Hawaii Life in 2018. Ultimately, she loves helping people, building trust, and making lifelong friendships through her practice.

On weekends, Yvonne loves spending time at the Kaneohe Bay sandbar. “It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth,” says Yvonne. “I feel at peace living here.”
