Multi-Family Homes are Selling Quickly in Honolulu’s Charming Neighborhood of Kaimuki

The thriving community of Kaimuki is located east of Manoa and Makiki, inland from Diamond Head on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It is one of Honolulu’s oldest neighborhoods, providing an eclectic mixture of established businesses and new trendy shops and restaurants.

The area has managed to retain its historical charm while making room for new exciting business growth. Its unique character and prime location make Kaimuki a wonderful place to live, work, and play. From real estate recently sold, I found most newly constructed houses with a separate living area for multi-family living sell very quickly in Kaimuki.

Sold Multi-Family Honolulu Homes With Separate Living Areas

5 bedroom/4 baths, sold price: $950,000 (MLS# 1200126)

5 bedrooms/4 baths, sold price: $950,000 (MLS# 1113439)

5 bedrooms/4 baths, listing price: $978,000 – only 8 days on the market, currently in escrow (MLS# 1204655)

5 bedrooms/4 baths, listing price: $1,050,000 – only 17 days on the market, currently in escrow (MLS# 1205099)

The houses listed above are brand-new with very low maintenance needed, and very centrally and conveniently located near town, Kahala, Waikiki, and Kaimuki businesses.

The owners can use part of the house for their own living and part of the home can be rented out for rental income, which can help pay the mortgage or household cost. You could also use the space for the in-laws if you didn’t want to rent it out.

As a former resident of Kaimuki, I witnessed the morphing of single family homes into multi-family, multi-generational residences. Kaimuki is a special place where you get the convenience of everything Honolulu has to offer as well as the “small” neighborhood charm you’d expect in Oahu’s more rural areas.
