Mid-Century Beach House on Oahu’s Waimanalo Beach

Who doesn’t love the idea of a house on a white sand beach? Waimanalo Beach is one of those dreamy Hawaiian beaches with soft white sand, turquoise blue water, coco palms, and gentle waves. It is also Oahu’s longest beach, great for long, lazy walks. Despite its length, there aren’t a lot of homes along this stretch and it is rare to see them on the market.

This mid-century beach house would suit any beach lover. Priced at $3.3 million, this home is a deal compared to the homes for sale in the neighboring beach communities of Lanikai and Kailua, which are priced from just under $5 million up to $25 million.

It is a simple home with great lines and an open airy feeling. Plenty of room for all with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The view is clearly the main attraction. The decor is neutral, which allows the brilliant turquoise of the ocean to grab the attention through the floor to ceiling windows.

lanai

The main room opens out to a simple raised lanai and a large grassy yard filled with coco palms with plenty of space for kayaks, surfboards, and beach side barbecues all with that glorious ocean view – and right out front is Waimanalo Beach.

Waimanalo – Tropical Small Town Living on Oahu

The town of Waimanalo lies between the Ko’olau Mountains and Waimanalo Beach. This sleepy town has lush farmland backing up to the mountains and a variety of small mom & pop stores and restaurants along the road. When that isn’t enough, nearby Kailua has a Whole Foods, plenty of boutiques, and great little restaurants.

Honolulu is just the other side of the mountains. A short trip on the gorgeous Pali Highway will put you right in town. For a scenic alternative there is a Highway that follows the coast around Oahu’s southern tip. Great vistas and wonderful beaches if you want to take a dip along the way.
