Maui Weekend Events – March 23

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui has a great variety of family fun as well as fine live music and an opportunity to benefit Punana Leo O Maui. The 37th Annual Ho’omau takes place this Saturday. This is an all-day event at the beautiful Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. Whaler’s Village is presenting a special movie night featuring “Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool”. Coming off three sellout shows, Tempa and the Tantrums perform at Mulligan’s on the Blue. And finally, Maui Mall Village starts the Easter celebrating with a Hoppy Easter on Sunday morning.

The 37th Annual Ho’omau takes place this Saturday from 9:00 am to sunset at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. Event benefits the students at Pūnana Leo O Maui, the Hawaiian language immersion preschool located in Wailuku. Live music all day by local bands. Hawaiian crafters and demonstrators, local vendors from all over the island offering food will also be on site along with a keiki zone. Silent auction with some great items also on deck.

Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool

Whaler’s Village presents a special movie night featuring “Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool” this Saturday night. This night celebrates Maui filmmaking and the Maui Community. The film won Best Documentary Audience Award at the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival. The Maui based cast and crew will be on hand in the courtyard following the film for a live Q&A. Movie starts about a half hour after sunset. This is a free event.

Tempa and the Tantrums

The must-see music event this weekend is Tempa and the Tantrums playing at Mulligan’s on the Blue this Saturday night. I’ve shared in previous blogs Tempa and Naor playing at Mulligan’s and at Maui ProArts. They have teamed up with guitarist Michael Ferenci, bassist Jay Molina, and percussionist Travis Rice to create Tempa and the Tantrums. Coming off three sellout shows! Get your tickets in advance for $20. Show starts at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:00.
