Maui Weekend Events – January 17

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui has some great live music options. ProArts Maui delivers two nights and three presentations of beautiful music. The Maui Songwriter’s Festival takes place at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua and will have events on Friday and Saturday. The Maui Oceanfront Marathon is organizing several runs along the South and West Shores of Maui. And finally, I wanted to put on your radar that Oni Foundation has a storefront at the Queen Kaahumanu Center offering cultural classes and live performances.

Live Music at ProArts Maui

ProArts Maui offers a couple great live music concert options this weekend. Friday night, the feature is Muriel Anderson Concert with Special Guest Steve Grimes. Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. She is celebrating the release of Sailing Dreams, her innovative CD & board game.  7:30 pm showtime.

On Saturday, George Kahumoku Jr, Daniel Ho, & Tia Carrere from Maui’s renowned Slack Key Show will be presented twice. Witness masters of slack key style in an intimate setting. 5 and 7:30 pm showtimes.

Maui Oceanfront Marathon

The Maui Oceanfront Marathon takes place this Sunday with several different race. Choose from marathon, half marathon, 5k, 6-miler and a fun run. Race starts include from the Shops at Wailea, from Maalaea, from Launiupoko Beach Park and Ukumehame Beach Park. Check link for details.

The Maui Songwriters Festival

The Maui Songwriters Festival on its 10th year kicked off on the 15th and runs through the 18th. The event this year takes place at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. The festival features some of the biggest artists in country music and beyond. Songwriters, Producers and Composers come from Nashville to perform their #1 songs while sharing the stories behind the songs. Local favorites this year include Tempa & Naor, Gail Swanson and Akoni Palomino. There are a few events to choose from on Friday and Saturday this weekend.

Wonderful World of Aloha

Oni Foundation, Inc has a storefront at the Queen Kaahumanu Center that offers cultural classes and live performances. The storefront is called Wonderful World of Aloha. They offer hula, ukulele, and Tahitian drum lessons amongst others weekly. This is a great option for locals and visitors alike to observe a demo, take a lesson or create a craft. Buyer activity is improving. Sellers are seeing more offers, showings and escrows.
