Architect Lucky Bennett Designs “At The Beach” in Kona, Hawaii

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath home embodies iconic and livable Lucky Bennett design, which complements luxurious ‘Island style living’ at the beach park at Kahalu’u.

This (MLS# 259606) is a short sale listed at $765,000 (previously sold for $1.2M)

Lucky Bennett Designed Seaside Kona Style Home

Lucky Bennett started designing homes in Hawaii in the 50’s and this is a favorite of mine. Built in 1961, it showcases Hawaiian style design at the beach!

Stunning as all Lucky Bennett designs are, at this location, he captures seaside Kona style and utilizes the mild climate by allowing lots of wooden doors and windows opening outside everywhere capturing the beauty of Hawaii in each angle and in all directions and more importantly utilizing the cooling tropical airflow.

The entry is wrapped around a natural stone decked swimming pool

The most dramatic view is found in the master suite of coco palm studded ocean and sunset view. This suite is roomy and full of windows and doors opening to catch the light and tradewinds which blow lightly in this location.

This home is found in the small beach community of Kahalu’u Beach lots, in sleepy Kona. Just a short stroll to the surf, it’s a dreamy lifestyle for beachcombers, golfers, surfers or artists. This area is steeped in Hawaiian history and this area is presently seeing a revival in culture, dance, and music!

Next is the living room and library, and with his fabulous standard kitchen in place, one has a sense of tradition and comfort

Lucky Bennett Home Design Creates Comfort and Seclusion

Koi pond and water fall gardens set an ambiance, natural wood tones complete the mood

Sitting nooks and Koi fish ponds with little water falls…this home is full of little special places of comfort and seclusion

Ahh, to have seen this area in 1961 when this home was built would have been awesome. It was another 12 years before I first traveled through here, and guess what?…I returned to stay for the rest of my life!

Enjoy Island Living in Hawaii

Enjoying the Hawaiian sunshine, swimming with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, seashell hunting, or surfing the waves till dark with my son here in his ‘Kahalu’u blue room’, your island lifestyle is well within reach!

Heidi; I love Lucky Bennett’s early visions and flow. His architecture designs were before their time and have proven to remain “timeless”. I first came to the islands in 1973 too! I think I remember you from the beach 🙂
