Lowest Priced Home for Sale in Hawi's Maliu Ridge

If you are heading up towards Waimea from Hawi, just after the little intersection where the Kohala Mountain Road begins you will see a road off to the right. Puu Mamo Drive is the entrance to an enclave of homes known as Maliu Ridge.

Lowest priced Maliu Ridge home priced at $600K, has a “million dollar view!” (MLS# 240131)

Some people think of Maliu Ridge as the best of both worlds in the “gated” versus “un-gated” community choice. This Hawi subdivision has paved roads, underground utilities and street lights, but no active homeowners association or dues. The lots are all at least one acre, giving privacy to each property. Most also have big ocean views. In a neighborhood where home prices in recent years have been consistently over $1 million, the lowest priced home currently for sale in this desirable Hawi community just had a price reduction to only $600,000!

The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a fireplace for winter nights when thin-blooded residents of Hawai’i refer to the slightest chill in the air as “cold,” and a long lanai for enjoying the sunsets and Maui views. The lot is 1.25 acres, with the residence built on the front third and the back portion fenced. The current owners graze sheep, but a horse or dog would be equally welcome. It is not uncommon to see Maliu Ridge residents walking their dogs together around the quiet paved cul-de-sacs, or saddling up their horses to ride along nearby back roads.

Or treat the nice flat area as a canvas to paint in landscaping and gardening to the east, while still enjoying the north and west ocean views!

Wow, I can’t believe you can get a view like that on a large lot for $600,000 in North Kohala.

Having lived in Maliu Ridge myself for a couple of years, I am flabbergasted (yes that is a real word) at the prices! This is the “hill top with a view” that every town covets. Fabulous Maui views and a great listing!
