Explore the East Side on the Kapaa Bike Path

Stretching 7 miles along the East Shore coastline from Lydgate Park to Donkey Beach, is the Kapaa Bike Path. Also referred to as Ke Ala Hele Makalae, which translates to “the path that goes by the coast,” this multi-use trail gives access to parks, beaches, and coastal communities while providing fantastic scenery and offshore breezes.

The Kapaa Bike Path is family friendly and both walkers and bikers wander this path. Dogs are welcome guests as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after. Being the only side of the island lucky enough to have it, the path serves as an ideal alternative route of transportation for east side residents and visitors. Whether you are looking to exercise, take a sunset stroll with a lover, or bike to get a morning coffee, the path serves many functions as it meanders through a variety of environments from the bustle of Old Kapaa town to the tranquil undeveloped natural landscape. Eventually, the path will span a full 17 miles from Anahola to Nawiliwili. While the remaining phases of the path may some time to complete, the project has strong support both from the community and the local government.

The opportunity of living in Kapaa offers the ability to be connected to a small community while still having easy access to the daily requirements of life. 5004 Laipo Road is a great example of this. Built in 1949, this charming residence is perfect for those looking to experience an authentic plantation style home with modern upgrades and conveniences. This 2 bed (with optional 3rd) / 1.5 bath plantation style home is on over a ½ acre lot just outside of the heart of Kapaa town. With the ability to build a 2nd dwelling, the purchase of this property offers opportunities for further development. A covered front lanai, large carport, numerous mature fruit trees, and outdoor Japanese bathhouse are some additional exterior amenities to 5004 Laipo Road. Located in Ilima Gardens/Ota tract, accessibility to the beach, Kapaa Bike Path, shopping, and dining are just a few minutes away.
