Cinco de Mayo Weekend on Maui 2023

Aloha friends! Happy Cinco de Mayo. There are some celebrations happening this weekend to honor Mexican culture and food. If you’re ready to party early, head to Down the Hatch where they are starting the festivities at 7:30 am. Hungry Coyote and its neighbor businesses at Lahaina Square are putting on a celebration this Friday night. The Grand Wailea is also celebrating this weekend with a few events featuring Codigo 1530 Ultra-Premium tequila. Besides all the Cinco de Mayo fun, we have some family-friendly options with the Maui Mall Village Lei Day celebration and the opening of Rainbow Fish the Musical at the Historic Iao Theater. And finally, the always much-awaited Hana Regatta takes place this weekend.

The Sarah Joe Memorial Regatta takes place this Saturday, May 6th. Race starts at 9:00 am and takes off from Kapueokahi – Hana Bay Beach Park. This is an all-day event and runs until 4:00 pm. Check out my full blog on this event here.

Hungry Coyote and Lahaina Square 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Hungry Coyote, along with its neighbors in Lahaina Square, are putting on a big Cinco de Mayo celebration. Event takes place from 5 – 10 pm in the Square parking lot. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Teen/Young Adult Empowerment Program. Hungry Coyote will have food and dessert booths. Samba do Green will be performing live along with other local artists and fire twirlers. Family and keiki activities such as face painting and photo booth also available.

Down the Hatch Cinco de Mayo 2023

If you want to start the party early, Down the Hatch is kicking off Cinco de Mayo at 7:30 am and running specials all day long. Head down for $14.50 Chicken Gorditas plate and $10 Micheladas all day long. They are having a sombrero contest so dress the part. Live music all day.

Grand Wailea Playing with Fire

Grand Wailea is celebrating the holiday weekend with Playing with Fire events featuring Codigo 1530 Ultra-Premium Tequilas and flame inspired dishes. Codigo Bar Takeover at the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a takes place Saturday night from 5 – 9 pm. Sunday, there will be 2 events.  The Reception takes place at the Chapel Gardens from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. This food and tequila mixer includes live music and seven expressions of Codigo 1530 tequilas. Cigars & Spirits Pairing follows the Reception from 7:30 – 9 pm at the Molokini Bluff. The pairing features rare and fine cigars by Brix & Stones Hawaii and tasty desserts alongside Codigo Anejo tequila.

Rainbow Fish the Musical at the Historic Iao Theater

Rainbow Fish the Musical opens this weekend on Saturday, May 6th and runs through May 14th. This family friendly story explores values and delivers the message that real beauty comes from within. Showtimes this weekend and next on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 pm.

Lei Day Celebration at the Maui Mall Village

Another family-friendly event this weekend is the Lei Day Celebration happening at the Maui Mall Village Center Court. Event takes place this Saturday from 10 am – noon. Live music and Hula by Halau Hula O Keola Ali’i O Kekai and the Kamehameha Schools Middle School Ukulele Group.
