Who is Moving to the Big Island?

Ever curious about where people who move to the Big Island come from? Even more interesting, where do people from the Big Isalnd move to?

Notice the strong affiliation between the Big Island and the West Coast

We all have our reasons for moving to the Big Island. Some come for beaches, some for the wide open spaces, some for the perfect weather and others for the Aloha.

How cool! I used the interactive map to locate Maui migration. It looks similar. I wish the map included Canada. Very interesting. Thanks for the info.

Wow everyone is from the West coast. Don’t those people on the East Coast know how great Hawaii is?

  3. This is awesome, Erik! Thanks for posting!

@Carmen, I happen to be visiting the East Coast right now – Fire Island to be exact – and you know what, you are right- they don’t know how great is Hawaii! :) 98% of the people I’ve met here have never been to Hawaii – and many of them have traveled to lots of other destinations around the world!! However, with the spill in the gulf, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this map look a bit different in a few years, we’re already starting to see buyers from New York and Florida…
