Select beaches on Kauai provide all-terrain wheelchairs at no cost, including Lydgate Beach Park, Poipu Beach Park, and Salt Pond Beach Park. Contact County of Kauai‘s ADA coordinator for more information at 808.241.6203. Gammie HomeCare also offers floating beach wheelchair rentals that breakdown to fit into most vans or SUVs.

Swimming Pools

Both of Kauai’s free public swimming pools, Waimea (808-338-1122) and Kapaa (808-822-3842), have a chair lift for getting in and out of the pool as well as accessible restrooms.

So appreciate this article as our family is vacationing in Kauai for the first time with our 15 year old son who has cerebral palsy along with his 2 brothers. Thank you Amy for highlighting some great sounding offerings for wheelchair users…I’m very encouraged!!
