Kuliouou Beach Park, a great place to relax and unwind

Kuliouou is a great community to live in East Oahu. It has wonderful beaches and parks ideal for picnicking and watersports including, Kuliouou Beach Park pictured above, Maunalua Bay Beach Park, and even Hawaii Kai Dog Park for those animal lovers. Maunalua Bay Beach Park is always bustling with water enthusiasts of all kinds. Hui Nalu O Hawaii canoe club, founded by Duke Kahanamoku in 1908, practices and holds races here. Paiko Lagoon is a wildlife sanctuary for fish, birds and plants and is a serene location.

If you prefer to keep your feet on land, there are some wonderful hikes in the area. You can have particularly striking coastline and Maunalua views from the 4 mile Kuliouou Ridge Trail, which is a moderate trail that takes you through various ecosystems and terrains and back. There is a shorter Kuliouou Valley Trail that is just over a mile round trip.

Shopping and entertainment are nearby in Koko Marina Center, Hawaii Kai Towne Center and Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, plus downtown Honolulu is less than an hour drive.
