West Maui Private School

When considering moving across the ocean, there are so many things to consider. Do I ship a car? Are there furniture stores on the island? Then if you have children, the next questions is, how are the schools?

I am happy to report that kids growing up on Maui appear to be the happiest kids in the world. Year-round sunshine does wonders for creating daily smiles and endless activities. If considering a move to West Maui (Lahaina, Ka’anapali, Kahana, Napili, and Kapalua), a beautiful school with a killer ocean view in Napili will make the decision easy for you.

Maui Prep is Born

Maui Preparatory Academy started in 2005 by a group of parents and Realtors who saw a huge need for a private school in West Maui. For years, families would decide to hold a move to Maui off until “all the kids are out of the house.” Gifted 15 acres of land from Maui Land & Pineapple, the realities of building a school were born. In 2005-06, Maui Prep welcomed 16 students, in grades 6th thru 8th.

The following years Maui Prep kept growing, and now students from Preschool thru 12th grade attend this sweet school. The school recently added a state-of-the-art gymnasium, the Bozich Center. Maui Prep offers a college prep curriculum, competitive athletics program, and a solid performing arts program. Children watch whales jumping from the playground and often use Maui’s bountiful natural resources as part of their learning experiences.

Paradise is a Reality

The addition of Maui Prep to the West Maui community has enabled many families to make living in paradise a reality.  No longer do they have to worry about the quality of education when choosing such a big move. Maui Prep starting in preschool and continuing all the way up to high school enables siblings to attend one school.

There is no greater example than this past year with the pandemic of 2020. Maui Prep began the 2020-21 school year with record enrollment. In an effort to escape the pandemic and have their kids in school, many parents finding themselves working remotely now had an option of where they could live. Maui Prep started the school year full-time and in-person (with strict COVID protocols in place). What better time to make a dream of living in Maui a reality than during a worldwide pandemic?!?

Lucky to Live Hawaii

So many people have opened up their eyes this year to so many new possibilities. Many of the families that migrated to Maui in order to escape the pandemic have decided to stay. Some need to go back to work in person. But there are many of us that have known this secret for a long time.

My children have been lucky enough to attend Maui Prep since preschool. Like some, we didn’t move here because of Maui Prep, but Maui Prep is probably the biggest reason why we have stayed. Having my two girls in such a safe and loving environment makes me know that Maui is where we are meant to be.
