We Almost Didn’t Go

We love spending time on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu. Turtle Bay, specifically Kuilima East, is our sweet spot. We love the serenity and beauty of this place and are grateful for the special moments we get to enjoy in this golf course community. Recently, after a few days of hiking, swimming, and playing pickleball, we woke up a bit more tired than usual. Do we go for a walk, or do we just rest our tired bodies?

After a little contemplating and nudging, my husband and I agreed to a sunrise walk and off we went. Not only did we experience the beauty of a morning sunrise, but we were delighted to catch a glimpse of a baby Albatross and later, the big mama.

Along our way, we also witnessed a mama monk seal and her pup basking in the sun. Now, that’s a sight you don’t see every day, and to think we may have missed it!

Anne Frank said, “Our lives are fashioned by our choices. First we make our choices. Then our choices make us.” I’m glad we made the choice to get up and walk. We enjoyed each other, the beauty of creation, and were once again reminded that the choices we make, make us.
