Week 15—Old Fashion Plantation Biscuits!

Old Fashion Plantation Biscuits Recipe

(These can be cut biscuits, but this can be simplified by baking in wedges)

  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 5 Tbsp. butter

Directions

Combine milk and vinegar; set aside for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place rack in top third of oven. Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture has a fine-crumb consistency. Stir milk, then pour into flour mixture. Stir only until dough is lightly blended. Turn dough onto a floured surface and pat into an 8-inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges. Place wedges on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 8 biscuits.
