Spotlight on Joel Kurata – Musician, Finance Whiz, Lending Professional

This spotlight series features some of the loan experts at Element Mortgage, our preferred lender. 

Joel Kurata is a mortgage consultant with Element Mortgage – Hawaii Life’s preferred lender who works with us across the state to help buyers achieve their real estate goals. He works out of Kaimuki on Oahu, often meeting with clients in one of our Hawaii Life office locations on Waialae Avenue, in Kahala or Hawaii Kai – but he can be found driving to meet his clients where they’re at on any given day.

Joel was born and raised in Hawaii and matriculated from Hawaii Baptist Academy. He brings with him a strong finance background to better advise and serve his clients. He has experience in the public accounting industry: Wachi & Watanabe CPA (tax) and Deloitte & Touche (audit) and holds a current CPA license. He holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Accounting – Auditing, both from the University of Washington. 

Now, at Element Mortgage, Joel continues to work hard to help his clients purchase their properties and to protect their largest investment. He especially enjoys working with first time home buyers, investors, and VA buyers to help them cut through the clutter and noise in the mortgage marketplace, so they can quickly and efficiently find the loan product that is best for them. He values integrity and transparency in the process and always believes in upfront communication.

When not working, you can find Joel enjoying time with family and friends, participating in his local church, traveling, playing and singing music, playing basketball, and obsessing over a new hobby (currently maximizing credit cards and rewards).
