Big Island

Race Day at Kuki’o

Kukio Challenge anyone?

Kekaha Kai Beach State Park on the Big Island of Hawaii

Well this job selling Real Estate for Hawaii Life has kept me so busy that when I decided to enter the Kuki’o Challenge, I had not trained in advance at all. This is a fun race held at Kuki’0, by a nonprofit group who contributes and helps maintain areas including nearby Kekaha Kai Beach.

Starting the ½ mile swim was the hardest for me, then the 3 mile run through the trails of Kuki’o was wonderful, again no training I just wanted to finish reasonably well somewhere at the end of the crowd is fine. I had my family there cheering me on! It was most amazing to hear them cheering from far out on the ocean when I rounded the point. Yells from my 3 year old grandson were fuel for my exhausted stand up paddle finish!

What a fun day ending with wonderful food and fresh fruit smoothies and finally our own Kona brew pubs latest brews!

Well….needless to say I love living here on the Big Island…contact me for more information on Kukio real estate, or any Big Island estates. Who knows, maybe I will take you on a stand-up paddle at Kekaha Kai beach!
