Professional Hair and Makeup, Kaua’i

Are you considering tying the knot in Kaua’i? Or maybe you are planning to do a family photo shoot here on Kaua’i as part of your vacation and want a professional to do hair and makeup. As a local bride who recently got married, I am here to help you narrow down your search! Please keep in mind, everyone is so amazing at their jobs and you can’t go wrong with picking one or the other. My goal with this blog is to highlight something about each one from my prior knowledge and experience.

Top Choices for Hair and Makeup

Alana is the owner of Echelon Beauty. She did my hair and makeup for my wedding. I chose her for her energy. I’ve known her and her family for close to 20 years and I knew she would bring a positive, energetic and spunky vibe to my dressing room! I knew she would make me feel the most confident just by being in the room. For makeup, I wanted something in the middle of full glam and natural which is probably a makeup artists least favorite thing to hear. Not only did she do a fabulous job, but she killed it on my Hollywood hair!

Mia is the founder of The Artist Co. One of my good friends recommended her to me during my initial search. Her style is effortless and elegant. I still stalk her instagram to see her work and I’m always in love with what I see. She started The Artist Co. which is a huge help to people in search of services.

Misty is the owner of Glam by Misti. She’s done my hair and makeup a number of times for different photo shoots and headshots. I also think she can’t do better than the last time and she also surprises me! I’ve also known Misty for years and years growing up on Kaua’i. She is bubbly yet has a calming sense about her. The makeup she’s done for me is always light and incredible. It can never be too heavy for close ups. She would be perfect if you’re looking for natural look or if you don’t like heavy makeup which was probably all of my bridesmaids.

Britney is the owner of Beauty Bae Salon and Spa. Brit and I went to high school together. She is funny, high energy and a master of hair! If you want to book a hair appointment before your wedding, look no further. She is a color master. She’s done my hair for years and I’m also so beautiful when I leave her shop.

Stephanie is the owner of Artistry by Stefanie. She’s never done my makeup for a professional event but I’ve seen her in action at other weddings and she is impressive. She does everything from a full beat to natural. She was my second pick when I was looking for someone to do my wedding.

If you are looking for someone that travels from island to island, Faith and Donny are amazing! They do full glam and have an amazing portfolio for you to look at. They travel inter island and have flexible rates. I love their energy and they will without a doubt turn your dressing room into a party.

Trial

As someone who rarely does a full beat and typically wears a tinted sunscreen and some mascara for my everyday look, getting a professional to do my wedding was such an enjoyable, stress free experience. I’m not one to spend unnecessary money so I went back and forth in my brain for weeks trying to decide if I needed on. When I did decide, I chose to book my trial for the day we had a family photo shoots scheduled. Kill two birds with one stone kind of thing. I am so glad I did! Not only did it reassure me that I made the right decision but it helped me understand what I did want for the day of and how long it would last for the big day.

Wedding Day

As someone who usually functions well under pressure, I didn’t feel nervous until I settled into the hair and makeup chair. It was only when I paused from cleaning, organizing, and attending to everyone else that the nerves kicked in. Here’s my advice: Find something to keep you occupied during your hair and makeup session. Whether it be a game on your phone, an audio book, podcast or maybe a foot massage from your maid of honor…. have something ready. Remember, your eyes will be closed for most of the process, so choose an activity that suits that situation. I also refrained from drinking before the ceremony, which may have contributed to my nerves. If you want to be pampered on the day of and look fantastic in all your photos, book it and don’t look back.

I hope this blog helps make your decision a bit easier! You can’t go wrong with any of these amazing artists.
