Papakea is a Great Choice for a Maui Oceanfront Condo

The clear blue-green water in front of Papakea is great for taking a dip.

Papakea Resort is a great choice amongst a seemingly endless number of oceanfront condo complexes in Honokowai. This stretch of coastline is beautiful with views of Molokai, whales, and surf. When looking to buy a condo in the area, there are so many options that can make it hard to choose the right one for you. Most of the complexes do allow short-term rentals but Papakea Resort has consistently been a very popular vacation rental destination.

5 Reasons Why Papakea Resort Stands Out:

1. The Grounds

The resort sits on just over 12 acres of oceanfront property with expansive views. It is located at the south end of Honokowai bordering the very north end of Kaanapali. It is made up mostly of large lawns with lush tropical plants. To add a relaxing feel, there are a couple of koi ponds with fountains on the grounds. The landscaping is top-notch and always well cared for.

2. The Setup

The resort consists of 364 units spread out between 11 low-rise, four-story buildings. These buildings are in two horseshoe shapes. This design, along with the expansive grounds, allows the property to be low-density and not feel too crowded.

Soothing koi ponds are a nice addition to the landscape.

3. The Unit Sizes

It is rare for an oceanfront condo complex to have studios, 1 bed, 2 bed, and 3 bed units available. That is to say, only a handful of complexes in the area have 3 bed units. Papakea has all the above spread out amongst all 11 buildings.

The lovely oceanfront lawn at Papakea is perfect to stroll or relax in a chaise lounge.

4. The Amenities

The property includes two pools, each accompanied by a whirlpool spa and a shaded cabana. In addition, there are two of the following: shuffleboard courts, putting greens, pickleball courts, and tennis courts. Papakea Resort also features a 24-hour front desk for check-ins and check-outs and a concierge service.

5. The Proximity

Papakea is located within walking distance to almost all you would need during your stay. Times Supermarket is across the street with several local eateries in the shopping center. There is also a new food truck hub two blocks down the road which has become quite popular during dinnertime. The Farmer’s Market is a local food mart just down the street. They used to hold an outdoor market several days a week during pre-Covid times. Moreover, the resort is located within a 10-minute drive to the renowned beaches and golf courses of Kaanapali and Kapalua.

As you can see, Papakea is a great choice. Therefore, there has been a lot of recent activity in the complex. Currently, there are only three active units for sale and 15 that are under contract! Looks good–what is average price of all units–studios, one, two and three bedroom?

Natalie, I adore Hawaii (who doesn’t?), so I enjoyed reading your article on Papakea condos. I am in the process of selling some of my properties in TN and would be interested in looking into a purchase. If you can send me some more information on these or other condos I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
Rachel
