Own a Magical Oasis in Hawaii!

Have you ever dreamed of owning your own magical oasis while living in Hawaii? Well, I found one for you and it’s under $700,000! It’s private, gated, has five acres and room for your imagination. It’s MLS 663100 and you can view it here! Be sure to take the virtual tour, as well. You really don’t want to miss out on this home!

About the Home

When entering this property, there are two main gates to the house which both lead to a horseshoe shaped driveway.  In the center is a beautiful home, almost 4,000 sq. ft., that awaits your arrival. You can hear the birds, yet find peace and serenity when here.

There are so many things to love about this property! For starters, the foliage is amazing. You are surrounded by tropical plants and can’t see the road or your neighbors. This house has an incredible gated backyard which includes a large lanai that opens to the family room. Inside is a magnificent stone fireplace. Me, I love stone fireplaces and this is one of the best ones I’ve laid eyes on! You’ll definitely want to cozy up to this one when the winter nights get chilly. Chilly in Hawaii, you ask? Yes. At 2800 ft elevation, you get the wonderful mid 70 degree days and cooler nights. Perfect weather for gardening, too! I digress, let’s get back to the house.

Large, private lanai to enjoy.

When you enter from the back lanai, you walk into the expansive living room that is perfect for all the gatherings you might want to do. You can create many little sitting areas or even add a pool table! I can just imagine this room decorated for Christmas with a huge tree and lights. The ceiling is vaulted with beautiful beams. The floor is the original ¾ inch hardwood with handmade nails. It gives this room that warm cottage feel and welcomes you with open arms.

Off the living room is another room that is perfect for your exercise equipment, yoga room or a private study. It has floor-to-ceiling picture windows with a lovely view outside, tile floor, a closet and the possibilities are endless for this room. Just off that room is where the washer/dryer are and is a perfect room for when you get done with the pool! Pool? Yes, but it does need some work. This is where if you’re one who likes projects, it’s perfect for you! It is non-functioning but the structure is there to work with. If you’re not up for having a pool, there are many unique ideas for turning it into a garden, a sunken fire pit area, or even making it into a large barbeque area! Either way, it’ll be a great outdoor living space for your magical oasis.

Kitchen of a Cook’s Dream!

Back inside, if you’re someone who loves the kitchen, (it is the heart of the home right?) this one is pretty spectacular. First, it’s spacious! It has beautiful tile floors with a custom mosaic inlay, a SubZero double refrigerator/freezer with koa wood panels that match the custom koa cabinets. There’s a copper farm style sink, a Viking oven with a warming drawer, a Chamber retro collectors copper gas stove, a wet bar and custom designer lighting fixtures. Not to mention, a fireplace! Plus, it has a perfect place for a table where you can enjoy your meals while looking out into the front yard.

And the bedrooms! Let’s talk about those. There are three very large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and two of the rooms have a fireplace. Plus, two of the bedrooms have access to the outside. One has doors to the back lanai and the other has its own private lanai. A perfect place for a hot tub maybe? Or a quiet sitting area to read a book? Hmm…makes you think about what it could be!

Outside is Serene

Now, let’s move to the outside. There are five acres. Two acres where the main house is, two acres where the cottage is and one acre of land. It’s three separate TMKs (properties) but all are being sold together. What’s really cool about this is that from the main house, there are stone steps that go up to some trails through the trees. Once on the main trail, you’ll end up at the cottage. Hey all you project people, this cottage is for you! It has great bones but needs some renovation to make it perfect. What I love about this place is the fireplace. It’s that cool retro shape and orange in color! I can definitely see this as a really neat rental, a place for a B & B, or even just an additional dwelling for family. The cottage has exposed beams like the main house, and a cute front porch. The possibilities are endless and I can’t wait to see what someone makes it!

Water Source

This house comes with three catchment tanks. Not only do you have three, but they are all redwood and housed in a covered structure with a workshop. There is one on demand water heater and one propane water heater. There’s also an 80 gallon propane tank. A newer water filtration system was installed with triple carbon reverse osmosis.

What’s Close By

This home is in Ocean View where you are close to Papakōlea Beach, which is a beautiful green sand beach, and South Point! Also close by is Punalu’u Black Sand Beach and the delicious Punalu’u Bakery. Ocean View is a quaint town with a couple of shopping centers, gas station, shops and some eateries.

So, welcome to your magical oasis. It captures your attention and heart from the moment you drive up. It’s stunning and yet still has opportunities for those of you who love side projects. The possibilities are endless with this house and land! Just think, you could have your own secret garden.

Famous Previous Owner

What’s really interesting is the first recorded owner of the house. George Lorant was born 1918 in Slovakia and passed away in 2006 in Kealakekua. He’s buried in the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Now, I know you’re thinking, why should I care? But George was VP of Generals Foods in 1968 and patent owner for Cool Whip! How cool is that?! (see what I did there?!) He didn’t create it but held the patent. He was also a Private in the US Army. There’s definitely some cool history with this house. Think about the stories these walls could tell!
