Oahu’s Real Estate Sales Volume Continues to Outpace 2009

The Honolulu Board of Realtors has released statistics for February and we continue to outpace our 2009 sales figures.

January was a fabulous month as we led the nation in rebounding sales. February turned out to be another strong month as there were 157 single family home sales for an increase of 21.7% over last year. Meanwhile, there were 231 condos that sold for an increase of 44.3%!

The median sales price of a single family home on Oahu was $570,000 or down 3.6% from last year. Condos actually appreciated by a mere .33% for a median sales price of $298,000. Once again, real estate is local and here is what was hot in February and what what not:

Where was Hot?

  • North Shore had the highest appreciation for homes at 40.2% year over year
  • Nuuanu/Downtown had the highest apprectiation for condos at 49.7% year over year

Where was Not?

  • Wahiawa had the highest depreciation in home values down 16.8% year over year
  • Kaneohe had the highest depreciation in condo values down 22.7% year over year
