Happy Aloha Friday! I’m feeling it. Are you feeling it? So many great options this weekend.

The Second Race of Canoe Regatta Season Takes Place Tomorrow

Keiki O Maui is hosted by Lahaina Canoe Club at Hanakao’o Park next to the Hyatt in Kaanapali and two doors down from our favorite Kaanapali Alii, which you will read more about in an upcoming blog. This is an all-day event. Be prepared for traffic!!

Kapalua Wine and Food Festival at the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua

Foodies and wine enthusiasts rejoice as the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival kicked off yesterday and runs through the weekend. The festival features several wine tastings, dinners or hors d’oeuvres pairings and tastings every night of the event as well as Champagne Brunch on Sunday.

Friday’s main event is the Winemaker Dinner. Featuring the five winemakers from David Arthur Vineyards, Penner-Ash, Brewer-Clifton, Amuse Bouche and Scherrer Vineyards in a once-in-a-lifetime evening. Dinner will be held at Ulana Terrace, located below the lobby.

Who else is drooling looking at this menu?!

I’m not sure how much better it gets than gorgeous sunset views, food, wine, and friends!

Saturday night’s main event is the Walkabout Tasting Gala at The Plantation House Restaurant co-hosted by Kapalua Golf Course.

Enjoy sunset, panoramic vistas, island-inspired creations from Chef Jared and signature wines from Peju Winery, Justin Vineyard
& Winery, Penner-Ash, Willakenzie Estates, Burgess Cellars and Legras & Haas Champagne. Beam Suntory cocktails and Kona Brew will also be showcased. Entertainment from local favorite band, Nuff Sedd, will complete the evening.

And finally, two events will wrap up on Sunday.

The Aloha Brunch featuring Champagne and Rose’. Taverna’s signature brunch menu will also be accompanied by Beam Suntory craft cocktails created by Mixologist Grace and Kona Brews.

“Wine Down” at The Hideaway Montage Kapalua Bay with two seatings at 4:30 pm & 6:30 pm. Tasting stations, hors d’oeuvres and passed appetizers, featured winery partners Kaena & Brewer-Clifton and cocktails by Beam Suntory in a fun and casual “A Hui Hou” (Until We Meet Again) event.

Free Movies in the Park Featuring Soul Surfer

If you’re on the West Side and want to take a break from the Food and Wine Festival to enjoy a more family centered night, head to Campbell Park next to Baldwin Home Museum. The Lahaina Restoration Foundation and the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise are presenting Free Movies in the park every Second Saturday of the month.  This month’s feature is Soul Surfer playing 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm!

The foundation also hosts lots of Hawaiian Culture classes.

Makana: Legacies of Hawai’i at the MACC

Makana is a singer, composer and master of the Hawaiian Slack Key guitar tradition. Makana celebrates the release of his new album Pūlama: Legacies of Hawaiʻi. Created to honor the broad traditions of Hawaiian music, Pūlama explores the rich heritages of kī hō’alu (slack key guitar) and leo (voice) in the uniquely Hawaiian style. The album and concert offer heartfelt homage to the genuine spirit and sound of Hawai’i.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the McCoy Courtyard from 5:30 – 7:30pm. See menu here.

Zenshin Daiko at the MACC

Zenshin Daiko’s 23rd Annual Taiko Festival Concert will be a celebration of outstanding musicianship played with upbeat fun and boundless heart.

The nonprofit organization is dedicated to teaching taiko to children and has grown from a small, local taiko group to one that has achieved national and international recognition. They will be joined by Maui’s own Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra bringing their own jazz sizzle to this evening of joy and local flavor.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the Yokouchi Pavilion from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. See menu here.

Maui Comedy Series Returns to The Historic ‘Iao Theater

Saturday, June 11, 2022 — 7:30 PM

Maui Comedy Series returns after two years with a “Mahalo to Maui” show featuring the hilarious JR Brow.  You may recognize him from the Tonight Show, Late Show, Late Late Show, Gotham Live, Comic Strip Live or Showtime. He will make you laugh till you cry, then he will pull his guitar out and blow the roof off.

Global Wellness Day Yoga at Four Seasons Resort Maui

The Four Seasons celebrates Global Wellness Day every year by inviting non-resort guests and local residents to experience what they do best. This year, they are offering a 45 minute yoga class on the resort’s ocean front lawn followed by a 15 minute healing session.

Sierra Club Maui Hikes – Makena Shoreline Hike

Hike the gorgeous Makena shoreline and take in epic views on this moderate, pleasant walk on “fisherman’s trail”.  Hike road, sandy beaches, rocky beaches past tidepools to Keoneuli (Black Sand Beach).
