Maui Weekend Events – March 8

Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui brings you Maui Calls. This is Maui’s premier food and wine tasting event. South Maui Gardens present 2nd Saturday and Family Fun Day on Sunday. Peter and the Starcatcher closes this weekend at the historic I’ao Theater. ProArts Maui presents Fast Freddy’s Blues Showcase Series on Friday night, Gutsy Women: “The Great Turnaround on Saturday night, and local favorite Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian” on Sunday afternoon.

Maui Calls

The main event of the weekend is the much awaited Maui Calls. The 26th Annual Maui Calls was postponed from August due to the wildfires. It has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 9th. This is the MACC’s signature gala event and Maui’s premiere food and wine tasting event. The night will feature wines from all over the country, some of your favorite Maui restaurants, and live entertainment as well as a silent auction. There are several different sponsorship levels.

South Maui Gardens 2nd Saturday and Family Fun Day

2nd Saturday

South Maui Gardens – Hidden Oasis of Kihei hosts a community party every Second Saturday of the month. This event features several local favorite food trucks. This weekend, Mark Johnstone delivers live music and dancing from 6 – 8 pm. A Night Market featuring local Maui artisans and vendors will be on display this weekend as well. This is a free event.

Family Fun Day

South Maui Gardens hosts a Family Fun Day on Sunday. Head over between 11 am and 3 pm and enjoy yard games, delicious food and more in the beautiful garden.

Peter and the Starcatcher

Maui OnStage presents Peter and the Starcatcher at the Historic I’ao Theater. This production tells the story of how Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Neverland come to be. Enjoy a mix of historical fact, the fictional world of Neverland, and modern pop culture references in this imaginative musical. Showtimes Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm.

ProArts Playhouse Maui

ProArts Playhouse has a great lineup for this weekend. Friday night, the Maui Jazz and Blues Festival present Fast Freddy’s Blues Showcase Series. Friday’s show features special guests R.E. Metoyer and Tim Hackbarth. Show starts at 7:30 pm. Saturday night, the feature is Gutsy Women: “The Great Turnaround.” This show elevates women’s voices in celebration of woman’s history month. Show starts at 7:30 pm. Sunday afternoon you can catch the local favorite Eric Gilliom’s “White Hawaiian.” Start time this week is 3:00 pm.
