Aloha friends! This weekend on Maui offers some great options. The weekend kicks off with the 4th Friday Town Party in Kihei. deVine Wine Lounge is hosting their Grand Opening Celebration Weekend with events every night this weekend. HPR presents Maui Mele Memories this Saturday afternoon at the Maui Academy of Performance Arts in Wailuku. We have an option for some comedy relief on Saturday night in Free Range Comedy at the ProArts Maui. Lastly, we have some MIL basketball games, and a paddling meet this weekend. I’m also including below the next Maui Paddling Hui race in case you’d like to register.
Starry Nights and Culinary Delights
Maui Farm Events presents Starry Nights and Culinary Delights. The event will be held this Friday night at Hali’imaile General Store. Dinner will be followed with a two-hour guided tour of the night sky. A high powered Celestron telescope will be used to provide stunningly detailed images. Check in for dinner at 6:45 pm. Price $195 per person.
deVine Grand Opening Celebration Weekend
Did you know a wine bar was opening in Kihei? deVine Wine Lounge has their Grand Opening this weekend. They are at Azeka Makai next to Maui Pie. They will be hosting an event every night this weekend to celebrate. Sip and Sparkle on Friday from 2pm – midnight. This will be a great night coinciding with 4th Friday. Red Carpet Night on Saturday from 6 pm – midnight. VIP Event 4 – 6 pm. Dress to impress! Finally Roses on Rose on Sunday from 2 – 10 pm featuring rose’ specials. Wear pink for giveaways. There will be live music every night.
Maui Mele Memories
Hawaii Public Radio presents Maui Mele Memories on Saturday from 1 – 2:30 pm. This will be a free community event in a cozy atmosphere at the Maui Academy of Performance Arts. HPR’s DJ Mermaid (Paige Okamura) and Kamakakehau Fernandez will be discussing music inspired by and written for Maui. Discussion will be followed with a Q&A session and listening party.
Free Range Comedy
ProArts Playhouse brings the improv this weekend. Saturday night features Free Range Comedy. This is an improv troupe specializing in short form improv a la “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Show starts at 7:30 and seating at 7:00 pm.
Kihei 4th Friday
Kihei 4th Friday town party takes place on the fourth Friday of every month. This is such a fun event for the family with over 40 food trucks and local vendors. There is also a keiki zone with face painting, balloon twisting, hula hoops, bubbles and quick science.
MIL Sports
Paddling
Meet #5 of High School Paddling takes place this Saturday at Kahului Harbor. Start time is 9 am.
Basketball
We have 2 games of Division 1 Boys Basketball this Friday night. Kamehameha Schools – Maui plays Maui High at KS – M. Lahainaluna plays Baldwin at Lahainaluna. Game start for both games is 5:30 pm.
This is the final weekend for Division 1 Girls Basketball. The girls will play after the boys at 7 pm at KS Mai and Lahainaluna.
Division 2 Boys Basketball will have 3 games. Hana plays Kulanihakoi in Hana and Seabury Hall plays Maui Prep at Seabury Friday night. Game start for both games is 6 pm. Saturday morning, Hana and Kulanihakoi will rematch in Hana at 10 am.
Maui Paddling Hui
The Maui Paddling Hui season is underway. The next race is the Doug Poseley Memorial Race (Pali) on Sunday, Feb 2. The long course will be 9 miles from Haycraft to Olowalu. The short course will be 3.75 Miles from Papalaua (Grandmas) to Olowalu. The backup course is Makena Landing to Kihei Canoe Club – 9 Miles. Register here.
