Aloha friends!  I hope 2023 is treating you right so far and those resolutions are still going strong. On the agenda for this weekend on Maui, we have Trampled By Turtles playing at the MACC. Additionally, the Maui Songwriters Festival kicks off on Sunday the 15th and continues until Tuesday the 17th. The 2023 Annual Juried Exhibition also opens this weekend and runs through February 17th. Lastly, recurring events include Lahaina 2nd Friday Town Party and South Maui Gardens 2nd Saturday.

Lahaina 2nd Friday Town Party

Maui Friday Town Parties bring the community together for a pau hana night of music, art, food, and Maui culture.  Friday night is Art Night in Lahaina every week. Each Friday from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, enjoy special gallery shows, featured artist-in-action and refreshments as you stroll through dozens of art galleries. Lahaina is dubbed “The Art Capital of the Pacific” because it has more art galleries per capita than any other American town. 2nd Friday brings additional local vendors to the party.

Trampled By Turtles at the MACC

I clicked on the YouTube link for these guys and I do not regret it one bit. They are a well known and loved blue-grass band out of Minnesota. While their sound definitely has some of that bluegrass twang, I might describe them as more folk. At any rate if you appreciate acoustic music and the sound of several string instruments harmonizing, give them a listen. They will be playing at the MACC’s Castle Theater on Sunday the 15th.

This is a prestigious competition giving visitors an opportunity to view current work by local and mainland artists in all media. Renowned guest jurors offer a different perspective for a unique show each year.
