Aloha friends! As we head into the weekend, there’s a lot happening around the island—from meaningful ways to give back to fun events that bring us together as a community.
With April being Volunteer Month in Hawaiʻi and our islands continuing to recover from recent floods and past wildfires, this weekend offers opportunities to support, celebrate, and reconnect. Whether you’re looking to lend a hand, enjoy live music, learn something new, or simply get out and enjoy Maui, here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend and how you can be part of it.
Maui Flood Volunteer Opportunities

April is Volunteer Month in Hawaii and with the recent floods and communities still recovering from the wildfires, there are plenty of opportunities to step up and help.
Kanu Hawaii is a great resource where you can search volunteer opportunities across the islands.
There is also a google doc Maui Post-Flood Community Resources that is being updated regularly and maintained live with support from the Maui United Way where you can also check in directly for opportunities.
Maui Nui Strong is a great community resources category for volunteer opportunities.
Maui Rapid Response is a grass-roots mutual aid network where you can donate.
Maui Food Bank is always a great place to donate to and they have drop off sites island wide.
Maui Surfrider Foundation organizes beach clean-ups which is very important right now. You can check their site for the next clean up.
Jon Gazi – Benefit for Waialua Flood Victims
As you may know, Waialua on O’ahu was hit hard by the floods. Jon Gazi of the Mad Caddies brings his Rockalypso vibes to Da Playground this Saturday night for a concert to benefit the victims of the flood in Waialua. This is a chance to come together in community to dance the night away and support our neighbor island community. Show starts at 8 and doors open at 7 pm. Tickets $25 with VIP and champagne addons available.
Koko Pu’alu & ‘Umeke Pohue Workshop with Kukini Suwa
The Maui Nui Botanical Garden presents another great workshop this weekend. The workshop will dive into the practice of making koko pualu (a specific type of knotting/netting used as a sling to carry the ‘umeke pohue (gourd container)). Kumu Kukini will lead the workshop. Attendees will learn how to make the knots and the cords as well as the handle for the sling as well as cutting and cleaning the gourd. Included in the workshop are all the materials to make your koko pu’alu and ‘umeke pohue. Session will run from 9 am – 4 pm. Tickets $200.
Party at Da Playground – Anime Edition

Da Playground presents the ultimate Anime night like no other. Celebrate anime with a world of cosplay, music and fun. DJs Pash Sean, BLKSHP, and Mashup Mike will be providing epic beats for the night. Dress as your favorite character and spend the night immersed in anime fandom. Show starts and doors open at 9 pm. GA tickets $10 with VIP and Champagne addons available.
Corks for a Cause – Seabury Project Grad

deVine Wine Lounge partners with local nonprofits on some Sundays to give back to the community. 15% of proceeds from 4 – 7 pm will be donated. This week’s Corks for a Cause supports non-profit Seabury Project Grad which raises money to provide seniors with safe and memorable celebrations. This year’s goal is $40,000. This is a fun way to enjoy great food and wine while supporting this year’s Seabury graduating class.
Maui Paddling Hui
The Maui Paddling Hui season is winding down. There is no race this weekend. Next weekend’s race is Maui to Molokai *Elite Event Series* on Saturday the 18th. This will be a 26 Mile race from DT Fleming Park to Kaunakakai Harbor. There is no short or back up race.
Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap

The Historic I’ao Theater and Maui Onstage present The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. The world’s longest-running play, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is a classic whodunit filled with suspense, clever twists, and an unforgettable ending. It will run from March 27 – April 12. Showtimes Friday night at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 3 pm.
Anything Else This Weekend or Next?
I am always looking to promote other weekend activities for Maui organizations. If we are missing anything, drop me a line any time for future happenings. Mahalo!!!
Real Estate
As of April 2nd, we have 239 pending listings out of 1653 for 12.6% under contract. This is down some from last update. The stall in rate reductions and storms that hit over March probably slowed things down a bit. Hopefully we will see it come back up closer to 15% again real soon.
It is still a great time for buyers to find realistic sellers.
I am here to go over latest figures and discuss your plans for Real Estate on Maui.
I have been busy working on a project that will be coming to market soon. 20 acres of ocean view organic farmland in Waiehu! I’m so excited to share Kuawa Olu with you all. Stay tuned!
