ACTIVATIONS: After Hours at the Gallery — Keoni of Hawaiʻi
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center hosts ACTIVATIONS: After Hours at the Gallery on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at Schaefer International Gallery, Yokouchi Pavilion, and the courtyard. This free, all-ages evening celebrates the Keoni of Hawaiʻi: Art of the Aloha Shirt exhibition with retro aloha fashion, runway shows curated by Maui Mood Swing, DJ beats by DJ SKUBI, gallery access, and food and beverages available for purchase. Maui Jazz & Blues Festival
The Maui Jazz & Blues Festival returns to The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua for a week of world-class music, island hospitality, and live performances from acclaimed jazz and blues artists. Weekend highlights include the signature outdoor concert on Saturday from 4:30 to 9:30 pm and a Sunday Jazz Brunch from 11 am to 2 pm, with additional festival events and dinner shows throughout the week. Lā ʻUlu: Breadfruit Festival
Celebrate ʻulu at Lā ʻUlu: Breadfruit Festival, a free community event at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. The festival features cooking demonstrations, presentations, activities, Hawaiian games, entertainment, nonprofit educational booths, local vendors, and ʻulu-inspired food and handcrafted goods, with free parking across the street at War Memorial Stadium. Tumua: Das’ How Tour
Local comedy favorite Tumua brings his Das’ How Tour to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater for two nights, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm. Presented by BAMP Project, the all-ages shows feature Tumua’s local-style storytelling, stand-up, and social-media-famous sketches, with tickets listed at $61.50, $81.50, and $101.50 including taxes and fees. DUKE at ProArts Playhouse
ProArts Playhouse presents four performances of DUKE this weekend, with shows on Saturday and Sunday at 3 and 7 pm. Award-winning actor, writer, and storyteller Moses Goods brings Duke Paoa Kahanamoku to life in a one-man show celebrating the legendary Native Hawaiian swimmer, surfer, Olympian, and ambassador of Aloha. MCHCA Long Distance Season
Long Distance Season rolls on, and this week Maui crews get a break from the race calendar after the Kihei-hosted distance race on August 29. The next major long-distance event on the published schedule is the Pailolo Challenge, hosted by Hawaiian Canoe Club on Saturday, September 19. Until then, paddlers are deep in endurance-season mode—building stamina, reading open-ocean conditions, and keeping that steady team rhythm sharp. Uncertainty continues with Real Estate as non-residential owners are beginning to look elsewhere and regulations are hastening the process for them. Savvy Buyers have been identifying and scooping these opportunities. Will you be ready to buy? Many buyers are getting prequalified for loans now in anticipation of the market improving. Investors are refinancing to use equity lines to make cash offers which appeal to Sellers in multiple offer situations or using 1031 funds that have to be earmarked for real estate purchases. As of August 20th, Maui County has 249 pending transactions and 1630 active for 13.2%. We’ve held over 12 since the last update. Hopefully, we will be able to stick the 13’s and continue to increase this figure.
