Maui Calls 2018 Annual Fundraiser for the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Celebration of Hula
Appreciation and Celebration
Referred to as “The artistic and educational heart of an entire community” by Maui News according to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) website, for over 20 years the MACC has gifted the Maui community with education and entertainment. Your ears may have thanked you for attending free annual events such as Ki Ho’alu Guitar Festival and Maui ‘Ukulele Festival that capture the beauty of Hawaiian music. Equally, as noteworthy is the MACC humbly serves as an educational site advocating professional development in arts. Recently, I stopped in the art gallery and was graciously greeted by a volunteer, she was proud to inform me that it’s not uncommon to catch an artist at a local school teaching and inspiring young minds. The MACC’s biggest fundraiser of the year is the Maui Calls 2018 Annual Gala Fundraiser In Celebration of Hula, which takes place August 18th 6 pm -10 pm. The fundraiser will help support The MACC in providing Maui with exceptional entertainment and education.
Entertainment at its Finest
The event starts off with a fresh flower lei greeting and local music artists such as Joel Katz and the Hula Honeys. Entertainment will be provided throughout the night by Kumu Hula Nāpua Greig and her Hālau Nā Lei Kaumaka O Uka, perfect to go along with this year’s theme, “In Celebration of Hula.”
