Manoa Valley News: New Football Stadium!

Manoa Valley

Located within minutes of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu by bus or car, is a secluded corner of Oahu towered by the majestic Koolau Mountain Range and one of Honolulu’s most favored residential communities — Manoa Valley. I am very fortunate to be a homeowner in Manoa Valley for over 20 years. Our “valley” is a unique and happy place. Our daily rainbows can attest to the happiness!

University of Hawaii’s Football Team

Speaking of “rainbows,” the University of Hawaii at Manoa is home to Oahu’s only college football team — respectfully named the Rainbow Warriors or “Bows” as we like to refer to the team.

New Stadium

For all Football Fans, the University of Hawaii now has a newly renovated Football Stadium. When Aloha Stadium announced that it could not be used in the 2021 season, UH Manoa got the ball rolling fast to renovate Ching Field — which seats 9,000 people — at a cost of $9.4 million. “There’s not a bad seat in the house,” said UH Spokesperson Dan Meisenzahl. “It’s just a beautiful facility. I think people are really going to enjoy the experience.”

Fans in Manoa Valley were Cheering Loudly!

Full Capacity – Finally!

It was a slow rollout for spectators however due to Oahu’s Covid gathering restrictions. But on Nov. 3, full capacity crowds were back in play for UH for the first time since March 2020. UH’s announcement came after Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s timely press conference detailed eased restrictions on Oahu, which includes full indoor and outdoor crowds for events as long as those who attend are masked and vaccinated against COVID-19.

And the fans at Ching Field were Cheering even Louder!!

I think I could hear them from my own home since I wasn’t one of the lucky fans to attend the Nov 6 game against San Diego State. Unfortunately UH lost 17 to 10, but spirits remain high!

Rainbow Warrior Schedule and Ticket Sales

There are a couple of home games left in the Rainbow Warrior season. Next one: Sat., Nov 20 against Colorado State. Get your tickets now and please read the restrictions carefully before you go.  Have fun!
