Major Price Drop on Kona Ocean View Estate (with Acreage) Near the Beach

Estates of more than an acre or two near the beach here in Kona are rare, or incredibly pricey. Most luxury homes near the beach here in Kona are on small lots. Estate properties with acreage are found at higher elevations overlooking town and the beach. Higher in Kona means wetter and cooler. For those that want a more resort-like environment – and easy access to the beach – options are limited.

Hoomalu On Alii

One of the best options in Kona is a neighborhood midway between Keauhou and Kailua Bays named Hoomalu On Alii. These lots are multiple acres with most around 5 acres. It’s a gentle slope rising up from White Sands Beach. Ideally situated, yet with lot sizes large enough that it is private with room to breath.

77-422 Hoomaluhia Dr.

There is an estate with a particularly nice setting currently available in this neighborhood (MLS# 239491). The sellers just dropped the price $150K to $1.75 million. It’s on just under 4 acres. The estate has panoramic views of the coastline, Kailua Kona Bay, and the Pacific with sunsets every night.

It’s a comfortable spot too, as it capture the breezes off the ocean by day and mountain by night. The home’s design includes disappearing walls that slide back and merge indoor and outdoor spaces. Much of the furniture is included along with two cars.

The layout is a little different and not for everybody. The main house has just one bedroom. The two guest suites are in a separate wing with their own separate entries – ideal for privacy. All have ocean views and easy access to the pool and lanai area. This is a place to linger.

This looks like a wonderful property. I love the privacy, views and a central location (tucked away from any island style hustle & bustle)!
