Kona's Best Luxury Buy – Keauhou Estates Home For Sale

The million dollar luxury home market in Kona is seeing a lot more activity. Last year, in the first two months of the year only one home priced between $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 sold. This year, four have sold and 3 more have gone into contract in the same time period. With 28 homes currently on the market, there is still a lot of inventory, but it is definitely an improvement.

So, what’s selling? All the homes that have sold, except for one, have the same description; One story, resort-style homes in gated communities with expansive ocean views, and great rooms with disappearing walls that open up to a pool. Updated kitchens and bathrooms are also a must.

Looking through the available homes, there aren’t many homes with this description currently listed for sale. My best buy in ocean view luxury homes this month is in Keauhou Estates, a gated community just above Keauhou Bay, surrounded by Kona Country Club’s Mountain Golf Course. The four bedroom, 4 bathroom ocean view home with a pool is well priced at $1,099,000 (MLS# 241872).

For many homes online, the pictures are better than the actual house turns out to be. In this case, the home is much better than the pictures. The view is incredible and can be seen from the great room, the pool area, the kitchen, and the master bedroom as well. In excellent condition with an updated kitchen, several guest suites, and a media room, this is a ready-to-move-in property perfect for entertaining family and friends. The property is on the more desirable ocean side of the road where its east west orientation captures breezes as well as those amazing, unobstructed views of Keauhou Bay and the Kona coastline.

Keauhou Estates is a lovely community of resort-style homes, manicured yards, and stunning ocean views with the extra security of having a live guard on-duty 2 hours a day at the gate. Just minutes away from Keauhou Shopping Center, golf, and Keauhou Bay, it’s an ideal location for either a second or full time home. It is no surprise that one of the four homes that sold so far this year is another home in Keauhou Estates.

Erik, you are the super star in Kona and I hope you will be the one selling the 28 homes listed above $1,000,000. Very interesting to see the trend of this year compared with last year. It is encouraging and great for Buyers of luxury homes.

Looks like a solid buy Eric, kinda reminds me of Ka’anapali Hillside in Maui except to get those views you’ve got to have two stories and more like $1,250,000 or so.

@Catherine Thank. Me too.
@Jeremy The slope in the area around Keauhou Estates is fairly steep so most of the homes have incredible views and are only one story.
As it happens some lucky buyer has just snatched up this Best Buy.It went into contract this morning. I’ll be keeping my eyes out for the next best buy now.

Hmmm, are you saying there are 28 homes in the $1 -1.5 million range listed in Kona? Now I have the answer to the question of why prices are higher in the Hawi area. We only have 7 active listings in that price range. Two are genuinely plantation manager homes, and the other five have luxury finishes and ocean views, although not the gated communities.
