I am so excited to be going to the Kapena concert this Friday at the Poipu Athletic Club! It has been years since all of the original members have been back together and this will be their last concert together.
Kapena is one of those old Reggae/Hawaiian bands, otherwise know as Jawaiian, that we (if you have lived on Kauai for a long time) have been listening to since we were kids. Every time I hear the song Masese it floods my mind with memories of riding the school bus in Kekaha as that song would come on every ride without fail and we would all sing along.
Kapena has a distinct sound with the awesome vocals and ukulele picking by front man Kelly boy De Lima. They have had over 20 albums and every song is great. My favorites include Crazy and Reggae Train. Also performing this Friday will be Kapena’s kids, and Revival.
