Kalele Kai… a beautiful name very appropriate for such a property. Built in 1993, Kalele Kai is a luxury, resort-style community consisting of three, 6 story mid-rise towers and 10 waterfront townhomes. Built along the shoreline of Hawaii Kai’s West Marina, the buildings encircle a lushly landscaped courtyard where most of the public amenities are located. Units range between 1421 sq. ft and 2345 sq. ft and have spacious lanais, with many of them offering expansive views of the Marina and/or the Pacific Ocean. Some of the penthouse units on the 6th floor have vaulted ceilings in the living room and bedrooms, while the other units in the towers have impressive 9 ft ceilings. The community is also conveniently located near a variety of boutique shops, banks, tasty restaurants, as well as Costco and Safeway.

My understanding is that Kalele Kai was originally constructed to appeal to higher end buyers from overseas. And comparing Kalele Kai to many other condominiums and townhomes in Hawaii Kai, the high-quality craftsmanship and material that was used to construct Kalele Kai is clearly evident. Each tower has copper roofs and downspouts, it is concrete construction, and front doors are fire rated for 120 minutes. The lobbies are furnished with leather sofas and other quality furnishing. And as an owner, you can rest peacefully knowing there is 24-hour security, and key fobs are needed to enter the community as well as each tower (unless a person is buzzed in). Prices range from low $700k’s to near $1.8MM.

It sold March 2020 to a cash buyer for $754,000.
