Ka Milo @ Mauna Lani Resort on Big Island

Ka Milo is a beautiful gated community of high-quality single family and paired homes on the South Kohala Coast in the Mauna Lani Resort. The project offers single story and two story homes with either a single or two car garage depending on the house model and lot size. Some homes have detached guest quarters and several have their own pool and spa. The layout of the development has great architectural appeal with a variety of homes following the layout of the South Golf Course which borders on three sides.

The feeling of the community is quiet, casual, comfortable, quality living in an awesome location! The big difference in living in a home (or paired home) within a gated community as compared to a multi-unit complex is privacy. You can choose to participate in community events at the rec center or just do your own thing, knowing you can catch up with your friends and neighbors on your time and terms. I like that personally… knowing there is always an opportunity to mingle.

The first reported sales were in 2008. Then, almost overnight, the recession hit with a fury! Ka Milo holds the distinction of being the only development in Mauna Lani to proceed construction throughout the recession. The project has been steadily pushing forward over the course of the past 11 years with just 23 of its 137 homes remaining.

The inventory currently available consists of 5 homes, ranging from a 3 bedroom 3 bath single level home of 1653 sq. ft. priced at $915,000 (MLS 610143) to a  larger 3 bedroom 3 bath two story home of 2491 sq. ft. priced at $1,560,000  (MLS 611997).

As a resort “dweller” myself, I can attest to the allure the resort lifestyle holds. In addition to the beautiful amenities of Ka Milo itself with its two pools, a fully equipped workout hale and two hot tubs, you also have full access to the private Mauna Lani Beach Club, shopping, restaurants and movies. When I don’t feel like cooking, I know I can walk over to the newly remodeled and largely expanded Foodland for gourmet deli choices or hit Tommy’s or Under the Bodhi Tree for a casual meal or take out.

There are also a multitude of events continually throughout the resort, not to mention the walking trails, beaches, tennis, golf, and watersports to keep you entertained and active year round.

A big concern, particularly to prospective full time owners, is whether or not pets are allowed. Ka Milo does allow one dog or cat per household in the development.

A hui hou!
