Moving To Hawaii

It’s a New Year, Which Path Will You Take Today?

Which Path Will You Take?

We’ve all heard the saying, ‘New Year, New You!’ and made New Year’s resolutions that didn’t stand a chance of being fulfilled. It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone due to a global pandemic and widespread uncertainty. But maybe, just maybe, this really is our year. The year to reestablish work-life balance, the year to do something that’s a bit out of our comfort zone, the year we recognize that time is a limited resource and yes, we are overdue for that vacation! Perhaps this is the year we start listening to that tiny whisper in our hearts telling us to pursue a goal or dream that’s been tucked away for too long.

Dreams Worth Holding Onto

My sweet husband had his “Move to Maui” dream for over a decade. For years and years, he tried to convince me that this was where we were meant to be, but I just couldn’t see it. I was wrapped up in graduate school, playdates, neighborhood gatherings, and managing a household with four kids that never seemed to stop spinning. I always wished for a crystal ball — one that could see us in the future to know if our move to Maui would be meaningful for us and our children. Did it at times seem impossible to move our family from snowy Minnesota to a tropical island in the Pacific? Yes. Did it feel risky to uproot our lives not knowing what the future would bring? Yes. Did it feel pointless to go through so much hard work and energy full-well knowing that it might not work out? Yes. But was it worth every sleepless night, years of discussions, lots of prayers, every ounce of stress, and every bit of doubt? YES!!!

Grateful for Maui Life

All these years later, I am still grateful for our leap of faith. Our life on Maui has brought about the most positive changes for our family: exciting new experiences for the kids, better work-life balance for my husband, and a healthier lifestyle for all of us. Sometimes you need to sit quietly for long enough to hear that faint whisper in your heart telling you to make a change. We’re so thankful that we did. It isn’t always easy holding onto a goal or dream, but if it’s one you haven’t been able to put to rest, perhaps there’s a reason you’re still pursuing it.

With so much going on in our world, it’s okay to want to hold onto relaxing weekends, our kids being little, memorable vacations, and the dreams we can’t put to rest. If 2022 is the year you want to fulfill your dream of owning a property on Maui, please reach out to me as I would be thrilled to help you achieve it. Here’s to a year of happiness, health and a good dose of Maui sunshine!

Aloha,
Stefanie
