Intelligent Luxury at Kohanaiki | Redefining Luxury on the Big Island

Since the grand opening in April of 2013, I have had the privilege to experience the amenities at Kohanaiki. As I watch Kohanaiki continue to blossom, I truly believe that this luxury development located on the Kona coast has some exceptional features.

The project sponsors, IHP Capital and Kennedy Wilson, have strategically incorporated the concept of sustainability into the community’s infrastructure. Not only does this benefit the environment, but features such as the reverse osmosis water system, the community farm, design guidelines that encourage solar energy, and the Reese Jones designed golf course planted with salt tolerant seashore paspalum are all tremendous assets to both the club and its members.

These are just a few of the assets that have been incorporated into what Kohanaiki deems as “Intelligent Luxury.” It is apparent that Kohanaiki’s sponsors are paying close attention to minimizing the overall costs to ensure that this private equity club is able to sustain itself for future generations.

Kohanaiki’s Oceanfront Club Restaurant

I’ve had the opportunity to dine at the spectacular oceanfront club restaurant designed by Shay Zak, where I am always impressed with the farm to table cuisine that is served. The community farm supplies the club’s restaurants with fresh produce daily. Chef Patrick takes full advantage of the farm fresh ingredients that allow every day to be a new culinary experience. Not to mention, the fresh produce is carried over into Kohanaiki’s incredible comfort stations on the golf course.
