I Love Kailua Town Party 2019 | Supporting the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle

Last weekend was one of Kailua’s most fun events: The I Love Kailua Town Party. This is an annual festival celebrating our wonderful small community of Kailua, Oahu.

The Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle has been sponsoring and organizing the I Love Kailua Town Party since 1993. This community fundraiser is in support of the mission of the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle, whose goals involve tree planting and overall beautification of the Lanikai/Kailua area.

“The Outdoor Circle (TOC) is a statewide, non-profit, environmental organization whose mission is to keep Hawai’i clean, green and beautiful for future generations through community improvement projects, public education, and advocacy. Founded in 1912, it is the state’s oldest and most respected environmental preservation organization.”

I Love Kailua Town Party

The I Love Kailua Town Party is held every April, on Kailua Road between Hahani and Kailua/Kuulei Rd. The street is closed off and there is plenty of parking nearby, but I’d advise walking or riding your bike, if you are able.

Arts & Crafts Galore!

Local vendors display their wares, usually jewelry, clothing, home goods, and numerous other crafty items. Talented artists display paintings and photography, which is always a treat.

Lots of Music & Yummy Food!

Some highlights of the day are hula performances and performances by local musicians and bands. Come hungry, because there is usually a lot of food, as well. My favorite is the buttered, gourmet corn on the cob.

And of Course, Plants!

As a gardener, I love to check out the plant area of the I Love Kailua Town Party, where the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle sells both potted plants and cuttings from beautiful tropical plants. There are some beautiful finds that are sure to complement any Kailua garden space.

I Love Kailua Buttons

Don’t forget to pick up an I Love Kailua souvenir button for $5, proceeds benefit the cause and also, provide you with discounts at many of the local merchants in the area.

I’m not sure of the dates for next year’s Kailua Town Party, but it is usually at the end of April. What a great time to visit Kailua, if you don’t already live here, or just take the trip in from Honolulu! ~ Aloha
