Honolulu Charmer of the Week – Historic Manoa Home – 2750 Manoa Road

I hesitate to call this stately home (MLS# 201625128) a fixer as it’s really charming just as it is with its layers of history. This is a home that has been loved and it is easy to see why. With some work it could be stunning.

The home is designed for entertaining. The large front parlor spans the width of the house with views out over Manoa Valley, and a fireplace on the end. This gracious room opens to the large dining room that in turn opens to the back patio and the gorgeous lush yard.

There is a large updated kitchen to one side and a main floor master suite to the other. Easy to picture cocktails on the back patio, a buffet on the dining table, and the party in the front room.

Upstairs is another living area with several adjoining bedrooms and a large lanai facing the valley. Lots of character in these rooms, including some wonderful old wallpaper. This one in particular, featured in one of the walk-in closets, caught my eye.

In addition to the fun wallpaper, all the standard details you would look for in a home from the 1920′s are still intact for the most part: inlaid wood floors, double hung windows, stone fireplace, gabled windows, clawfoot tub in the bathroom, high ceilings with crown moldings, and lots of built-ins.

The home is very close to the University of Manoa.

I grew up in that house. How I loved it! The downstairs master was my bedroom. Along with the small bathroom with the green tile shower! My parents did a lot of work on the house but it looks like the new owners have done more. It’s beautiful! Way back, my folks paid 62K for that house. Wow! What value!!
