Hawaii Marines Lift a Red Solo Cup to Toby Keith

Toby Keith, singer, songwriter, avid military supporter, and the man who brought fame to the humble Red Solo Cup, recently performed free concerts for service members and their families at Schofield Barracks, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and Barking Sands on Kaua’i.

USO Toby Keith Concert Free for Military Members

The military has a way of bringing out the country fan in all of those who serve, and I am no exception. I attended Toby’s 200th USO concert at MCBH in Kaneohe, an impressive number of free shows for such a big name! While I missed hearing some of my favorite and lesser known Toby Keith songs, I thoroughly enjoyed the patriotic tone of the evening.

The crowd hooted and cheered through the satirical “Ballad of Balad” and, before the first encore, a bugler from the USMC Pacific Band took the stage to play “Evening Colors” during the lowering of the American flag, turning rowdy, beer-soaked revelers into respectful and orderly patriots standing at attention.

USO Offers Varied Services For Military Members in Hawaii

All military members take advantage of the USO’s varied services from time to time, and this concert was an excellent perk for those in Hawaii who have served.
