Hope you liked the episode with my clients, (and friends), Kai and Coralie Ohuchi! They had a hard time deciding where to actually settle down because both Waimea and the resorts, (like Mauna Lani), are such great places to live a Hawaii Life. Waimea kind of reminds me of rural parts of the US, but close to a beach. The resorts are all about fun in the Hawaii sun!

The properties described in this blog are great alternatives to the ones in Episode 5. The Nob Hill location has some real potential in the highly desirable location near some of the best Prep schools in the country!.

My husband and I really enjoy the show. We had our first visit May 2012 and fell in love..like so many others. We stayed on Oahu for 2 wks and took a plane over to the Big Island for one day. I think my main concern when watching the show is that all the homes are so expensive. So it seems out of reach for us to ever be able to come to live on one of the islands. Is that the way it really is? We are from South Carolina.

Aloha Tracy! If the homes here seem more expensive to you than South Carolina, you could look at your financial picture and decide if you are going to retire here or need income from a job to purchase and live here. Do you work in S. Carolina now?

Looking for a home around 250,000 or 300,000 north kona would be nice.

Aloha Tammy! You said you are looking for around $250K or $300K. There are a few still out there! This price range in North Kona is pretty much starter homes or fixer uppers. have you seen any so far on the website? Are you looking now to make your move? I’m asking because our “real estate bubble” happened along with the rest of the US in late 2007, but prices are now stabilizing and are creeping up in most areas.

Aloha Tammy! That’s doable, although that range will probably result in a fixer upper or small home. What have you seen on our website so far that interests you?

Aloha Cheryl! So glad you loved the show! “Mahalo”! Sellers will typically require a down payment, so probably your next step would be to consider what you might be able to come up with for a down payment and then we can figure out what your price range will be. Is there any certain island you have decided to live on? Which have you visited?
